Blue cheese dressing is delicious on an iceberg lettuce salad. Feta and spinach omelet with well done hashbrowns, also delicious. My friends ordered the monti cristo and hot open roast beef, both were very good. I recommend this place for great diner experience with real country views. |

As diner's go, this is one of my favorites, and that's saying a lot considering I'm from NJ - Land of Diners. We drive past Hoosick on our way into Vermont for skiing or going to our cottage in the Summer. Of the three times we have been there, the food and service have been outstanding. I would definitely recommend you try their Greek specialties. I had their Moussaka there recently. It was delicious and filling. I've also had their Spanakopita and my husband had their leg of lamb. Salads and soups are also very good. Our kids can be picky at times, but they always eat well when we go here. Overall: If you're looking for a good middle point to stop between NY and VT, this fits the bill. It's inexpensive, quick and you can get good food with lots of options! |

Traditional diner - huge menu, and *monster* portions. I ordered the Chef's Salad, there had to be a pound of meat on it. And not cheap deli meat, real quality off the bone stuff, and it was obvious the salad was chopped fresh. No brown anywhere. Homemade salad dressings were a nice touch too. My father ordered a hot meatloaf sandwich, came with 3 sides. Cream of broccoli soup is good, and again the quality of the ingredients is very high. Really good meatloaf with homemade gravy & homemade mashed potatoes.

The Country View Diner serves up tasty food with generous portions at moderate prices, most dinners in the $10-$15 range. I’ve dined here several times with my friend’s family and they absolutely love the food here. The Country View Diner is a popular stop for Vermont travelers and we’ve seen tour buses and plenty of out of state plates in the lot. Even my boss back in NH, loves stopping at Country View with his family on his way to/from ochester. This place seems more like a regular family restaurant than the typical diner. The casual dining room is very bright and carpeted with table and booth seating. The extensive menu offers a good variety of homestyle favorites including breakfast dishes, appetizers, salads, soups, sandwiches, burgers, steaks, chops, chicken, ribs, seafood, platters, Italian dishes, Greek dishes, and homemade desserts (bakery on premises). Lunch Specials and Daily Specials available. Beer, wine and cocktails are served here too.
The items on the Children’s Menu which include potato, jello or ice cream, and drink (sorry no alcohol) are named after NY sports teams including: NY Knicks (Grilled Cheese), NY Mets (Roast Beef), NY Islanders (Fried Shrimps), NY Yankees (Hamburger), RPI Engineers (Spaghetti & Meat Ball), NY Rangers (Roast Turkey), NY Giants (Chicken Fingers), and NY Jets (Frankfurter), pretty cool!! I enjoy the ousaka served with a cup of soup, salad, and rice, a generous portion of hot and tasty food. I've also had the Roast Chicken (served with potato & vegetable and soup or salad) and Breaded Shrimp Parmigiana (served with spaghetti and soup or salad) which are both pretty good. The service is very good and attentive. On our last visit, our waitress was very chatty with us since the place was not that busy on a Saturday night. We got several refills on sodas to wash down the aftertaste of the meals. Oh yes, I got a Napoleon to go which was pretty good and tasted very sweet. |

“Great big club sandwiches, and more!”
Reviewed August 6, 2011
Stopped on the way back from Albany to Vermont, about 10pm (they close at 11). Only a few others there at that hour. We ordered club sandwiches which were huge, good hot onion rings and fries, coleslaw and pickle. We've eaten here many times, and always have a good experience. Booths and tables, lots of windows, good service and food...and somehow I don't save room for their variety of pies and desserts. Next time, I am going to order a slice of lemon meringue pie first!
